Upcoming Must-See Movies

 In Blog

We live in a box of space and time. Movies are windows in its walls. They allow us to enter other minds, not simply in the sense of identifying with the characters, although that is an important part of it, but by seeing the world as another person sees it.” – Roger Ebert

While it was Roger Ebert’s job to watch movies, his love of films was very evident. Do you have a love of movies, too? Do you enjoy going to the movie theater and getting a big bucket of popcorn and settling in for the show? Will you watch just about anything or is there a specific genre of films you like?

While the summer blockbusters are long gone, there are some new films coming out in the next few weeks that you might want to see. Not sure what’s being released? Here’s a list of some films to be on the lookout for!

  • Frozen 2: Just when you thought that “Let It Go” had left the lips of your child, you’ll all be able to see Frozen 2 in the theater. Disney is bringing back all of those familiar voices, plus a few new ones (Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown) in what is sure to be a family holiday hit.
  • A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood: If you grew up watching Mr. Rogers, you are definitely going to want to see Tom Hanks as he portrays this iconic man in this new biographical drama. Maybe you can even grab a neighbor and go together to see it!
  • Jumanji: The Next Level: No one is having a bigger year at the movies than Dwayne Johnson, and this new Jumanji film is sure to add to his star status. The premise of the film has Spencer keeping the pieces of the video game and repairing it – and, of course, getting sucked into it. Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Danny Glover, and Danny DeVito are also in this movie.
  • Cats: Fans of the classic Broadway musical can’t wait to see this film adaptation, but Cats (the movie) is hoping to gain new fans with all of the star power that is packed into this movie. Idris Elba, Judy Dench, James Corden, Jason Derulo, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, and Rebel Wilson are some of the big names you’ll find singing their hearts out when this movie is released in December.
  • Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The journey of Rey, Finn, and Poe continues in the latest installment of Star Wars. The cast is huge and filled with famous people you love, and you’ll even get to see Carrie Fisher who will appear in unreleased footage that was filmed before her death in 2016. Definitely worth seeing this last film in the Skywalker saga.
